Keeping the IPOD volume down!

Here is an analogy, are we as Architects to do the same with our designs? Meaning, should buildings be as loud to their neighbors as the end users? I believe even if our clients demand a certain product we ought to be conscious of our designs and the context of placeless.

I see context (site) as possibly the most important element in good design. The site should inform the nature of the design. We should never let our buildings speak too loudly - yet it is widely done - by well known architects.
